Cathay Pacific is partnering with Auckland venue The Nightcar to launch a limited-time dining activation aimed at showcasing Hong Kong cuisine and promoting travel demand between New Zealand and Asia.
Running from April 29 to May 2, the four-day pop-up will transform the CBD restaurant into “A Plane Food Dining Experience”, featuring a curated menu inspired by the airline’s onboard offering and created in partnership with Michelin-starred Hong Kong restaurant Yat Tung Heen.
Tourism and aviation tie-in
The event highlights the growing use of food-led experiences by airlines to build destination awareness and strengthen consumer engagement beyond the aircraft cabin.
Cathay Pacific operates Auckland-Hong Kong services in partnership with Air New Zealand through a joint venture alliance, offering connections into Hong Kong and wider Asia.
Hong Kong flavours in Auckland
Across six dinner sittings, guests will be served a two-hour multi-course menu featuring dishes drawn from Yat Tung Heen’s Hong Kong menu, including seafood soup, Cantonese mains and traditional desserts, served on Cathay Pacific-style inflight trays.
The restaurant collaboration also features Cathay’s signature “Cathay Delight” mocktail, alongside cocktails and premium tea pairings.
Experiential travel marketing
The promotion reflects a wider tourism trend of using immersive city-based activations to inspire future travel.
Yat Tung Heen recently secured its tenth consecutive Michelin star in the Michelin Guide Hong Kong Macau, adding further profile to the Auckland collaboration.
Bookings open
The pop-up will be held at The Nightcar, 44 Queen Street, Auckland, with tickets priced at NZ$60 per person.
