An international visitor has marked a personal milestone with a bungy jump in Queenstown, highlighting the continued appeal of New Zealand’s adventure tourism experiences.
Kate De Blois, from Canada, completed the jump as part of a “50 before 50” list, choosing to undertake the experience at the Nevis Bungy site.
Bucket list experience
Kate says bungy jumping had long been an item on her list, describing it as a challenging experience she had wanted to complete.
“Because it’s challenging,” she says. “It’s just for that feeling of free-falling.”
She says the decision to complete the jump was influenced by a desire not to delay meaningful experiences.
“I don’t want to wait for something. If I want to do something, I do it.”
Emotional significance
Kate says the experience also carried personal meaning, reflecting on her mother’s intention to pursue similar goals later in life.
“I don’t want to wait to do something,” she says.
The experience
She described feeling a mix of nerves and excitement before the jump, and a strong sense of energy afterwards.
“As soon as I jumped, I was just like, ‘Woohoo! Wow!’” she say
