Fiji Airways has announced a series of senior appointments across its sales, marketing and commercial teams as it positions for continued growth across its core markets.
Managing director and chief executive officer Paul Scurrah says the changes reflect the airline’s focus on strengthening capability in strategically important regions.
“Building on our current strength, we are reinforcing leadership across our key markets and commercial functions. These appointments position us to deepen trade partnerships, optimise our network and deliver sustained growth,” says Paul.
Australia and New Zealand
Gai Tyrrell has been appointed regional director – Australia and New Zealand. She will lead Fiji Airways’ sales organisation across its largest markets.
Gai brings senior leadership experience across the Asia Pacific aviation, travel and technology sectors, including previous roles as managing director Asia Pacific for the Globus family of brands, regional director Australia and New Zealand for Hawaiian Airlines, and vice president and chief executive Australia and New Zealand for Sabre Pacific.
Australia and New Zealand remain core markets for Fiji Airways, and the appointment is aimed at strengthening trade partnerships and commercial performance across the region.
Pacific Islands
John Nickel will transition into the role of regional general manager – Pacific Islands from Tuesday, April 1.
The Pacific Islands portfolio supports tourism, trade and regional connectivity. Fiji Airways says John’s experience and stakeholder engagement expertise will support continued growth in the market.
Chief sales and marketing officer Kamal Haer says both appointments strengthen the airline’s sales strategy.
“Gai and John both bring strong market knowledge and leadership experience. Together, they will play an important role in driving our sales and marketing strategy, strengthening trade partnerships and accelerating growth across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific,” says Kamal.
Network and revenue
Fiji Airways has also appointed Russell Shaw as chief – network, revenue and alliances.
Russell brings more than 20 years of commercial and financial experience, including senior roles with Virgin Australia, Civica and Equatorial Launch Australia.
In the role, he will oversee network optimisation, revenue performance and alliance partnerships as the airline continues its expansion.
