LyLo is taking its lifestyle-budget accommodation concept on the road this summer with a fleet of custom-designed campervans available for a limited-time pop-up across New Zealand.
Bookings for LyLo Road Trips are now open, with travel available from Thursday, January 1, 2026. The pop-up builds on LyLo’s accommodation experience in Auckland, Christchurch, Queenstown and Brisbane, extending the brand’s design-led approach into mobile travel.
LyLo managing director Tim Alpe says the new campervan experience evolved from ongoing customer insights.
“As we work on expanding LyLo locations, we came up with the idea to try LyLo Road Trips, giving travellers the freedom to explore NZ with the comfort and design they expect and love from LyLo.”
Each LyLo Road Trips vehicle is a new 2025 Toyota HiAce automatic, designed to reimagine life on the road and address common pain points for travellers. The vans combine compact design with the practicality typically associated with larger motorhomes.
Features include a full-sized double bed, caravan fridge, induction and gas cooking options, fresh and grey water tanks, linen, cutlery and other essentials, outdoor chairs and an on-board toilet. With Certified Self-Containment and a high-capacity inverter system, the vans can operate off-grid for up to 48 hours or plug in at campgrounds. A touchscreen tablet provides easy monitoring of power, lighting and water.
The interior fit-out reflects LyLo’s signature micro-accommodation style, featuring bamboo benchtops, sustainable cork finishes, LED strip lighting and custom cabinetry inspired by LyLo pods. Customers can also choose a personalised name for their vehicle, which the LyLo team adds before pick-up.
The launch comes as demand for New Zealand road trips continues among inbound travellers from markets including Australia, Germany, France, the UK and the US.
LyLo Road Trips is supported by EVT, offering exclusive perks at LyLo locations. Travellers can start or end their journey at LyLo Auckland or LyLo Christchurch to refresh, swap linen, shower or socialise, with LyLo Queenstown also offering a mid-trip stop at The Rooftop, home to New Zealand’s first self-pour beer and cocktail wall.
“LyLo has always been about doing things differently,” Tim says. “From our pods to our social spaces and now our campervans, we’re finding new ways to make travel smarter and more fun.”
As part of the pop-up, LyLo is giving one international traveller the chance to take a LyLo campervan on the road for a month, including return flights for two. Details on the Ultimate NZ Road Trip Giveaway are available at: www.lylo.com/road-trips-competition
