The New Zealand International Convention Centre has announced its first live music act, with The Pogues set to perform in Auckland as part of their Rum, Sodomy & the Lash 40th Anniversary Tour in April 2026.
It will be the band’s first New Zealand appearance since 1990. The 1985 album, ranked among Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, will be performed in full alongside well-known favourites including “A Pair of Brown Eyes”, “Dirty Old Town” and “A Rainy Night in Soho”.
The tour features original members James Fearnley, Jem Finer and Spider Stacy, joined by guest vocalists Daragh Lynch, Iona Zajac and John Francis Flynn.
NZICC general manager Prue Daly says the announcement marks a significant milestone for the venue ahead of its opening in February 2026.
“Announcing our first music artist marks the beginning of a new era for Aotearoa’s live entertainment scene. Welcoming such an iconic band like the Pogues for their 40th anniversary is the perfect way to launch our live music programme, setting the tone for what’s to come.”
General tickets go on sale from 1pm NZDT on Thursday, November 13 via Ticketmaster, with pre-sale access available online.
