EVT Hotels & Resorts has announced two senior leadership appointments in Wellington, with new general managers joining Rydges Wellington and QT Wellington.
Colin McClean has been appointed general manager of Rydges Wellington and area general manager, Rotorua. Colin moves from QT Wellington, where he has served as general manager since February 2024. He replaces Shannon Craig, who has relocated to Australia to join EVT’s area general manager team for Western Sydney and the ACT.
Colin brings more than 20 years of hotel experience and is recognised for his commercial acumen and collaborative leadership. During his tenure at QT Wellington, he oversaw cultural and culinary activations including the graffiti room collaboration tied to The Art of Banksy exhibition, and the relaunch of Hippo, the hotel’s signature restaurant.
Luke Smith has been appointed general manager of QT Wellington and Museum Apartment Hotel. Luke was previously hotel manager at QT Queenstown and began his hospitality career as a Concierge at QT Port Douglas. He brings 16 years of experience across Australia, the UK and New Zealand.
EVT general manager New Zealand operations Simon White says the appointments demonstrate EVT’s commitment to developing its people.
“Colin and Luke are exceptional operators who have shown strong leadership and alignment with the EVT culture,” Simon says. “Colin’s operational expertise will be invaluable at Rydges Wellington, and Luke is an excellent steward of the QT brand as he steps into his first General Manager role with the group.”
Both Colin and Luke started their new roles in October.
