Air New Zealand has partnered with Wellington’s Parrotdog Brewery to create Dash-hound — a one-of-a-kind New Zealand IPA crafted for altitude and inspired by Kiwi creativity.
Brewed with the new NZH-109 hop from the Tasman region, Dash-hound is designed specifically for enjoyment at 30,000 feet, offering tropical fruit notes and a balanced, relaxed bitterness.
The collaboration is part of Air New Zealand’s ongoing initiative to showcase local producers and is now available during Koru Hour flights on the airline’s domestic network.
Air New Zealand chief customer and digital officer Jeremy O’Brien says the partnership reflects the airline’s commitment to championing New Zealand-made products.
“We are always incredibly proud to partner with exceptional New Zealand brands,” Jeremy says.
“Parrotdog are masters of their craft and a true New Zealand success story. This partnership is about celebrating Kiwi-made products – it’s all about who we are, what we make, and how we share it with the world.”
The name Dash-hound combines both brands: “Dash” references Air New Zealand’s de Havilland Q300 Dash-8 aircraft, while “hound” nods to Parrotdog’s well-known canine branding — a blend that captures Kiwi character in liquid form.
Parrotdog managing director Paul Watson says the partnership marks a proud moment for the brewery, founded in Wellington in 2011 by three friends, all named Matt.
“Seeing our beer poured onboard Air New Zealand and served in lounges around the country is a dream we’ve had since Parrotdog began 15 years ago,” Paul says. “We’re thrilled to celebrate the shared spirit of two proudly New Zealand brands through this partnership.”
Dash-hound will be available on selected Air New Zealand domestic services and lounges nationwide.
