Auckland Airport, in partnership with duty free operator Lagardère Travel Retail NZ, will open a full-format Victoria’s Secret store in its international terminal next year — the only Victoria’s Secret retail experience in New Zealand.
Opening airside, the store will feature the brand’s best-selling bras, fine fragrances, body care, underwear, sleepwear and apparel. It marks Victoria’s Secret’s return to New Zealand after its previous beauty and accessories store at Auckland Airport closed in 2019.
Auckland Airport chief commercial officer Mark Thomson says Victoria’s Secret is the first new store announced as part of a wider transformation of the airport’s airside retail precinct.
“Victoria’s Secret is one of the world’s most iconic lingerie and beauty brands, and we’re delighted to welcome the store to Auckland Airport,” Mark says. “Our airside retail offering is going to be transformed over the coming year, bringing a fresh modern experience to AKL that goes beyond traditional shopping.”
Victoria’s Secret vice president of travel retail Helly Ding says the store opening is a milestone for the brand. “It is an exciting milestone for Victoria’s Secret to return to New Zealand with an opening at Auckland Airport. The expansion in the Asia-Pacific region represents a significant step forward in our global growth strategy and our commitment to bringing the iconic Victoria’s Secret experience to customers worldwide.”
Lagardère Travel Retail NZ chief executive Cyril Letocart says the new store will strengthen AKL’s retail offering. “We’re proud to bring a larger format Victoria’s Secret store with a broad range to AKL. We know our customers have been looking for this. This will help strengthen the retail offering for travellers at AKL, encouraging passengers to explore before they fly.”
Retail transformation underway
Mark says the Victoria’s Secret opening is part of a broader upgrade to Auckland Airport’s duty free and retail areas, with major refurbishment works beginning in January 2026.
“It’s been eight years since the duty free areas were fully refurbished. Through redesigning the duty free offering with Lagardère, it means we can welcome more brands and products and integrate more unique experiences worth making time for,” he says.
The new Auckland Duty Free space will be completed in stages throughout 2026, introducing emerging beauty brands, testing and tasting activation spaces, and expanded fragrance, cosmetics, beauty and wellness ranges. The departures space will also include new views of the runway.
Travellers will notice some temporary changes as work progresses. “We do ask that travellers are patient as we conduct the work,” Mark says.
