Air New Zealand has taken its love of coffee to new heights, serving its new bespoke blend Carry On straight through the flight deck window at Queenstown Airport in a world-first moment.
The airline has partnered with Coffee Supreme to create the perfect pour, delivering the brew directly through the window of an A320 jet to celebrate the launch of the new blend.
To mark the occasion, Air New Zealand has created a special “Fly Thru” coffee experience.
Passengers on flight NZ0600 from Queenstown to Wellington on Thursday received a personalised bag of Carry On coffee to take home – quite literally coffee with their name on it – and the chance to win Coffee Supreme merchandise.
Travellers not on the flight could also join the celebration at Wellington Airport between 12.30pm and 2.30pm.
Air New Zealand chief customer and digital officer Jeremy O’Brien says the airline is proud to showcase New Zealand’s coffee culture in partnership with a well-known local roaster.
“There are few things that say ‘New Zealand’ quite like a great cup of coffee,” Jeremy says.
“Partnering with Coffee Supreme means we’re not just serving coffee onboard – we’re offering the very best of New Zealand to our customers.
“Air New Zealand has a unique opportunity to showcase New Zealand products and brands wherever we fly around the world. It’s a privilege to back a local business that shares our passion for quality, care and innovation, and together we’re proudly pouring a taste of home for our customers around the globe.”
Coffee Supreme chief executive Andrew Low says the partnership brings three decades of coffee expertise to the skies.
“We’ve spent three decades chasing better coffee on the ground, now we’re chasing it at altitude,” Andrew says. “We’re proud to be partnering with Air New Zealand so travellers can enjoy the same care and quality we pour into every cup at 30,000 feet as they do today at their local café or at home.”
Roasted to taste as good in the air as it does on the ground, Carry On features notes of dark chocolate, malt biscuit, and maple. It is smooth, full-bodied, and designed to hold its flavour long after take-off.
Carry On will be served in Air New Zealand lounges across New Zealand, Australia, and the Pacific Islands, and onboard in premium cabins from the end of October, before being introduced to economy and the domestic network in November.
