Templeton’s ABSTRACT development was honoured in the Holmes Group Tourism and Leisure Property category at the 2025 Property Industry Awards, winning a merit award.
Located just steps from the future Karangahape CRL station, ABSTRACT represents a fresh take on inner-city stays, offering long and short-term guests comfortable yet affordable accommodation enhanced with amenity-rich communal areas like the Wintergarden, a warm and inviting Library, Sa-Ni Spa, Alla Prossima restaurant, the Terrace Bar, and co-working lounges.
The project’s design fuses New York inspiration with Auckland soul, revitalising a previously underused CBD site.
The attention to detail evident in palette and texture sets the creative scene. Contemporary New Zealand art and artifacts on corridor walls and in common spaces echo the creativity that abounds in K’Rd, just outside its doors. Art, music, movement, food and light help create a strong neighbourhood feel.
“ABSTRACT represents a new generation of destination buildings that mix travel, work, and lifestyle in an unashamedly urban setting,” says Templeton founder and chairman Nigel McKenna. “It’s a place where city meets soul.
“Our vision was to create a space that fosters connection and engagement, making ABSTRACT not just a place to stay, but a place to belong. It invites guests to connect and be part of something vibrant and local.”
