Airbnb has recently announced three changes that they say will help guests understand exactly what to expect before they book.
‘Guest Favourites’ will collate the two million most loved homes on the booking platform based on ratings, reviews and reliability.
‘Revamped ratings & reviews’ is a redesigned ratings page, with new features to help guests understand the quality of every home, and the listings tab provides a set of new tools for hosts to manage their listings and showcase the details guests care about most, including an AI-powered photo tour.
“People often describe checking into an Airbnb as a ‘moment of truth’ – when you find out if the home you booked meets your expectations,” says Airbnb co-founder and CEO Brian Chesky.
“Too often, it doesn’t. We’re changing that. With Guest Favourites, revamped reviews and the new listings tab, you’ll now know exactly what to expect every time you book.”
‘Guest Favourites’
‘Guest Favourites’ are chosen based on reviews and have received on average a rating of 4.9 stars or above. They’re known for the host’s reliability and are considered easy to discover on the booking platform.
Nearly two-thirds of ‘Guest Favourites’ come from ‘Superhosts’, who’ve been recognised for their track record of outstanding hospitality.
Revamped ratings and reviews
The new ratings and reviews system sees reviews become easier to sort for potential customers, as well as introduces a distribution chart and more details, including where they’re from, their length of their stay, and whether they travelled with family, pets, or in a group.
The listing tab
Airbnb says they’ve noticed that listings with more details can get up to 20 per cent more bookings.
The new listing tab for hosts brings a set of new tools to help easily manage listings and showcase the details of the home, including a redesigned listing editor, an AI-powered photo tour feature, and Airbnb’s new smart lock integration, where hosts can connect compatible smart locks to their Airbnb account and automatically generate a unique code for every reservation.
Even more upgrades for hosts
In addition to the new listings tab, the 2023 summer release includes even more upgrades for hosts, including pricing visibility, price comparison tools, a new earnings dashboard, new payment options and messaging services for co-hosts.
