The first group of Chinese tourists in New Zealand since their government gave this country Approved Destination Status is in the South Island.
The 61 tourists flew from Guangzhou to Auckland a few days ago to start a 10-day tour of the South Island, on the ADS visa.
The GZL travel company behind the visit says New Zealand is top of their clients’ list of requested places to travel to.
It says proof of that is the first 40 seats on this group’s flight selling within one minute of being released!.
As the group boarded its China Southern Airlines flight from Guangzhou, members posed for a photo with a banner declaring “Hi, New Zealand. Here we come!”
The group arrived in Christchurch from Auckland this morning to be greeted by members of the China Consulate.
