Wētā Workshop has appointed Megan Simpson as senior sales manager – tourism, bringing more than 20 years’ experience across the outbound leisure and group travel sectors.
Megan previously worked for Globus family of brands as a business development manager, partnering with travel advisors and trade partners to grow touring and river cruise sales for New Zealand-based travellers.
Prior to that, Megan spent eight years with Hawai‘i Tourism Oceania, where she led growth in the meetings, incentives, conferences and events (MICE) market from New Zealand to Hawai‘i.
With experience spanning both leisure and business travel, Megan is now moving into the inbound tourism sector, where she will focus on supporting trade partners and driving sales growth for Wētā Workshop Unleashed in Auckland and Wētā Workshop Experiences in Wellington.
“I’m really excited to be joining Wētā Workshop and representing such an iconic New Zealand brand,” Megan says.
“While inbound tourism is new territory for me, I’m looking forward to working closely with our trade partners and helping grow sales for an experience that showcases New Zealand creativity on a global stage,” Megan adds.
Wētā Workshop head of tourism Sam Holdich says the appointment comes at a key time for the business.
“Megan’s appointment comes at an important time for the business as we gear up for TRENZ and Meetings NZ, setting up the foundation for a strong summer season this year,” Sam says.
“Megan brings a deep understanding of both business and leisure markets, along with strong relationships across the trade. Her experience will be invaluable as we continue to grow Wētā Workshop and strengthen our brand both within New Zealand and overseas,” he adds.
