Rydges Wellington Airport is hosting a limited-run exhibition featuring works by members of the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts.
The exhibition, Te Manu Muramura, includes 17 pieces inspired by the environment surrounding Wellington Airport, with themes of flight, movement, sky, waves and surf.
Displayed in the corridor linking the hotel to the airport terminal and convention rooms, the exhibition features works across a range of media including photography, oil on board, acrylic on canvas, mixed media, pastel and sculpture.
All artworks are available for purchase, with prices ranging from $600 to $12,500.
Rydges Wellington Airport general manager Jeff Hermes says the exhibition provides an opportunity to support local artists while offering guests a new experience.
“We get to see every day how special Wellington Airport is. Having these artworks reflect the surroundings through each artist’s interpretation has added colour to our spaces and become a talking point for guests and visitors,” Jeff says.
The New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts invited artists to submit works for the exhibition and selected Rydges Wellington Airport as the venue.
NZAFA president Wayne Newman says the hotel’s connection to the local community and high visitor numbers made it an ideal location.
“We’re grateful to the Rydges Wellington Airport team for supporting this exhibition and allowing us to showcase the talent of local artists to visitors from Wellington, Aotearoa and around the world,” Wayne says.
The exhibition is on display until Wednesday, April 30, 2026.
