The New Zealand International Convention Centre has officially opened in Auckland, marking a significant expansion of the country’s business events and large-scale exhibition capacity.
Tourism and Hospitality Minister Louise Upston says the venue strengthens New Zealand’s ability to attract major international conventions, exhibitions and entertainment events.
Located in central Auckland, the multi-purpose facility has capacity for more than 4,000 delegates and incorporates flexible meeting spaces, advanced technology and sustainability features designed for large-scale gatherings.
More than 120 events have already been confirmed for 2026, including major association conferences such as those hosted by the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO).
The Government says the confirmed pipeline is expected to generate employment across the tourism, hospitality and events sectors, as well as contribute to wider visitor spending.
The NZICC is owned by SkyCity Entertainment Group and operates in partnership with the New Zealand Government.
