Christchurch’s accommodation sector has added a new aparthotel offering, with The Kilmore Collection opening in the city centre to cater for longer-stay leisure and business travellers.
Opened in November 2025, the 18-apartment property is managed by The George and offers fully self-contained one-bedroom apartments designed for extended stays and work-life travel.
The development is expected to add around 6,570 bed nights annually, with the potential to accommodate more than 13,000 additional visitors to the city, contributing to the ongoing recovery and revitalisation of Christchurch’s visitor economy.
The Kilmore Collection is positioned within walking distance of Hagley Park, Christchurch Town Hall, Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre, The Court Theatre and the emerging stadium precinct, and is intended to operate as a hub for visitors exploring wider Canterbury destinations including Hanmer Springs, Waipara and Banks Peninsula.
Owner of Four Avenues George Clifford says the project responds to growing demand for professionally managed apartment-style accommodation in central Christchurch.
“This collaboration brings together strong local development expertise and proven hotel management capability,” George says. “We’re introducing thoughtfully designed apartments that meet the needs of travellers looking for flexibility, space and consistency.”
The property targets both leisure and corporate markets, including visitors attending concerts, sporting events and festivals, as well as conference delegates and project-based business travellers requiring accommodation for multi-day or multi-week stays.
Managing director of Brook Serene Bruce Garrett says aparthotels are one of the fastest-growing accommodation segments internationally.
