Hospitality New Zealand has welcomed the announcement that Raglan will host the fourth stop on the 2026 World Surf League Championship Tour, supported through the Government’s Events Attraction Package.
Hospitality NZ chief executive Kristy Phillips says the event will showcase New Zealand as a leading surf destination and deliver benefits for the hospitality sector.
“We are pleased to see today’s announcement, showcasing New Zealand as a premier surf destination and expanding how visitors perceive what Aotearoa has to offer,” Kristy says.
She says the event is expected to provide a boost to bars, restaurants and accommodation providers in Raglan and across the Waikato.
“Beyond the immediate benefits for local businesses, we hope this event encourages more visitors to come to our shores and experience surf breaks around the motu.”
Kristy says the Events Attraction Package continues to play an important role in supporting a diverse range of events across the regions.
“Events remain a key driver of hospitality spend, particularly outside of peak seasons, and we look forward to seeing how other events funded through the package continue to encourage regional dispersal of international visitors.”
