The winners of the 2025 Nelson Airport Trees of Remembrance campaign have been announced, with newcomer Digital Diligence taking out the Overall Winner title.
The annual campaign raises funds and awareness for Nelson Tasman Hospice, with local businesses sponsoring and decorating Christmas trees displayed in the airport terminal over the summer travel period.
Over the past three years, the campaign has raised $124,700 for hospice services, including $49,000 in 2025.
The trees are judged by celebrity judge Dame Suzie Moncrieff, founder of the World of WearableArt, alongside a People’s Choice vote by the travelling public.
Digital Diligence was named Overall Winner at a prizegiving held at Nelson Tasman Hospice, after impressing Dame Suzie with a digital slideshow tree topper showcasing the company’s logo, projects and team.
“I love the innovation, creativity and the way in which it showcases the Digital Diligence brand and work,” says Dame Suzie.
Hamish Fletcher Lawyers received the People’s Choice award with a tree themed around the firm’s values of being connected, tenacious, attentive and dynamic.
Hospice head of supporter engagement Donna Ching-Tregidga thanked Nelson Airport and participating businesses for their support.
“We are grateful for Nelson Airport’s leadership and to all the businesses that sponsored and decorated a tree,” says Donna.
“Trees of Remembrance has become both a vital fundraiser and a special activation for visitors during the festive season. All funds raised will support the delivery of free hospice services to one in three people in our community who will need them this year.”
Nelson Airport head of corporate services Beth Catley says the campaign once again proved popular with travellers.
“The trees provided a wonderful showcase of our local business community, while also building awareness of the vital work of hospice,” says Beth.
“Families also enjoyed the Great Bauble Hunt, which added another layer of engagement in the terminal.”
Fifteen businesses took part in the 2025 campaign. Digital Diligence received a prize package including a year of free corporate parking at Nelson Airport, catering and corporate wellbeing services. Hamish Fletcher Lawyers received tickets to an NBS Nelson Giants game, promotional games and a professional photography shoot.
Additional prizes included flights for two to Wellington with Originair for a People’s Choice voter, and an airfield tour and fire engine ride for the Great Bauble Hunt winner.
The Airport Perimeter Walkway also reopened during the period, following works associated with the campaign display.
