The Hotel Britomart has celebrated its fifth birthday with a series of special offers and giveaways, including a $5000 stay-and-dine package won by Christchurch visitor Megan, who came within 315 of correctly guessing the total number of guests hosted across The Hotel Britomart, kingi and The Libraries since opening.
The exact figure — 602,836 — was revealed as part of the hotel’s October anniversary campaign. Megan, who received the news on her own birthday, says she plans to use the prize for a weekend escape and dining at kingi.
Other birthday activities included a month-long 20 per cent discount on bookings, a Celebration Staycation package, and a kingi chocolate banana tahini loaf giveaway in Tuawhiti Lane, where visitors could attempt to unlock a suitcase prize. One entrant successfully guessed the code — 095 — representing the hotel’s 95 staff members.
The anniversary comes as The Hotel Britomart continues to add to its awards tally. In early November it was named the number-one hotel in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland on Tripadvisor, shortly after receiving a prestigious MICHELIN Key.
General manager Clinton Farley says the milestone reflects the work of the hotel team and its partners. “Our success is a reflection of the people who bring our values to life every day, the loyal guests who stay and dine with us, and the New Zealand suppliers and artisans who help shape our story,” he says.
Since opening in 2020, the hotel has amassed 43 awards, including design, food and beverage, sustainability, architecture and tourism honours, alongside two Tripadvisor number-one rankings and a place on the World’s 50 Best Hotels list.
The Hotel Britomart features 99 rooms and five Landing Suites, designed by Cheshire Architects and recognised as New Zealand’s first 5 Green Star hotel.
