Great Journeys New Zealand, in partnership with The Court Theatre, has announced Tormore Never Dies — a James Bond-inspired murder mystery dining experience aboard the Tormore Express.
Departing from Christchurch on Monday, April 27, Monday, May 18, and Sunday, July 12, 2026, the experience combines live theatre, fine dining, and scenic rail travel through Canterbury.
The evening begins in Great Journeys New Zealand’s Christchurch Departure Lounge with canapés and cocktails before guests board the Tormore Express for a three-course dinner paired with premium beverages. As the train departs, The Court Jesters from The Court Theatre lead an interactive murder mystery that unfolds carriage by carriage, blending performance and audience participation.
KiwiRail executive general manager passenger Tracey Goodall says the collaboration reflects Great Journeys New Zealand’s focus on creating unique travel experiences.
“Tormore Never Dies captures what makes Great Journeys New Zealand special — bringing together extraordinary partnerships, creative storytelling, and breathtaking rail journeys,” Tracey says.
“We’re constantly looking for ways to reimagine rail travel in Aotearoa, and this collaboration with The Court Theatre delivers something truly memorable — a night of theatre, dining and adventure all in motion.”
The Court Theatre partnerships and development manager Sophie Hicks says the new production builds on the success of previous Tormore Express events while introducing a fresh storyline.
“Tormore Never Dies takes the experience to the next level with a dynamic spy-themed plot,” Sophie says. “By combining live theatre, interactive storytelling and fine dining, it delivers an evening that’s both immersive and entertaining.”
The announcement also marks the return of the popular Murder Mystery on the Tormore Express series, with new 2026 dates confirmed for Sunday, April 26, and Sunday, May 17.
Each journey includes pre-departure canapés and cocktails, a three-course dinner with paired beverages, and a live interactive performance.
