Wellington Airport has unveiled a new two-storey bar and café, Good Day, giving travellers a new dining destination with some of the best views in the capital.
Operated by EVT, the venue is open daily from 4am to 8pm and offers a café, bar, and all-day dining space overlooking the terminal, runway and Lyall Bay.
Wellington Airport chief executive Matt Clarke says the development highlights the airport’s unique setting.
“Very few airports can match our stunning local environment and outlook, and this development makes the most of it,” Matt says.
“It has fantastic views across the terminal, runway and Lyall Bay. It also puts you eye-level with our spectacular bird spirit Manu Muramura, created by Wētā Workshop.”
EVT Hotels New Zealand and Pacific country manager Simon White says EVT is pleased to expand its partnership with Wellington Airport.
“The EVT team have a well-established relationship with the airport through our Rydges hotel, which is fully integrated into the main terminal building,” Simon says.
“Through our deep understanding of its customers, we have a well thought out food and beverage offering ensuring Good Day has something for everyone – whether you need a quick coffee to manage an early morning flight, food-to-go or a delicious meal during a layover.
“The precinct has casual dining, baked goods, café bites, savoury treats, deli selections and a burger bar; everything travellers need to make the journey as great as the destination.”
The new venue adds 130 additional seats to the terminal dining precinct and forms part of a $20 million upgrade of retail and hospitality sites, which will also see new duty-free, technology, gifting, eyewear and beauty concept stores introduced.
