When we say “it’s pretty good”, what we really mean is it’s “absolutely amazing”.
That’s the cheeky humblebrag behind Tourism Bay of Plenty’s latest campaign, which uses a tune by award-winning musician Tiki Taane to encourage domestic travellers to make the trip to the coastal region.
The campaign features Bay of Plenty locals enjoying activities during the region’s off-peak season — like a beachside sauna, scenic golf course, fishing, surfing, and skateboarding.
Participants include L.A.B lead vocalist Joel Shadbolt, NZ Skateboarding Open champion Shaun Boucher, Ngāti Hangarau co-chairperson Koro Nicholas, Tauranga mayor and former Olympic and world champion rower Mahé Drysdale, and Tiki Taane.
“We love our region and everything it has to offer, and Kiwis from other parts of the country always appreciate the casual, laidback pace of life we have,” says Tourism Bay of Plenty head of destination marketing Loretta Crawford.
“We know many people are craving a break from their daily tasks or pressures right now, and we’re keen to remind them that it’s pretty good here in every season.”
