All customers playing at SkyCity’s New Zealand casinos will need a new SHOW by SkyCity card, that verifies their identity and provides new safeguards for their play.
“Carded Play gives us the tools to better support our customers. We can make earlier interventions where needed, and ensure gaming remains a safe and enjoyable experience,” says chief operating officer Callum Mallett.
Under the Carded Play system, every player will need a SHOW by SkyCity card for all machine and table gaming. Customers can continue to use cash, QUICK Pay or Tito tickets when playing, and all customers will need a legal form of photo ID to sign up. This can be done online or at any New Zealand SkyCity Casino.
“We’re proud to lead the industry in building a safer, more sustainable future for gaming in Aotearoa New Zealand,” Callum says.
The card enables SkyCity to monitor gameplay patterns and encourage safer gaming behaviours. Key features include prompted and mandatory breaks, with session, daily and weekly limits applying to all forms of game play. Players themselves can monitor how long they’ve played.
“Our players all play differently, across different products” Callum says. “Our previous approach supported safe play within an anonymous system, but Carded Play takes that commitment further. It allows us to identify patterns of concern earlier and encourage breaks before harm occurs, giving us better tools to support our customers in real time.”
The rollout began in Queenstown and Hamilton earlier this month and was completed in Auckland yesterday, July 22.
The SHOW by SkyCity card will also offer customers the option to join SkyCity’s refreshed loyalty programme.
