Key people from across New Zealand’s hospitality and accommodation sectors have been recognised at the 2025 People’s Awards for Excellence, held as part of the 2025 Lion Hospitality New Zealand Awards for Excellence.
Proudly sponsored by DB, the People’s Awards celebrate individuals whose leadership, innovation and service make a significant contribution to the sector.
Hospitality New Zealand chief executive Steve Armitage said the awards are a chance to recognise the people who are leading with distinction and bringing character to the industry.
“The recipients reflect the skill and commitment found right across our sector. Their leadership, determination and values help shape great experiences for customers and build strong teams of future leaders.”
This year’s award recipients are:
● Accommodation Industry Leader of the Year – Rajeev Sharma, Sarin Hotels
● Hospitality Industry Leader of the Year – Emma Faith, Toastie Lords
● Chef of the Year – Cam Davies, The Fat Duck
● Michael Friend Supplier of the Year – Jill Polson, Lion
● Future Leader of the Year – Taylor Hamilton, Toastie Lords
Toastie Lords had a standout night, taking home two awards. Co-founder Emma Faith was named Hospitality Industry Leader of the Year, while rising talent Taylor Hamilton received the Future Leader of the Year award.
Cam Davies, Chef of the Year, was recognised for his work at The Fat Duck in Te Anau. The restaurant recently received widespread media attention after being named Supreme Winner at the Estrella Damm Top 50 New Zealand Gastropubs awards in March.
“DB is proud to support these awards and to acknowledge the people who are at the heart of New Zealand’s hospitality sector,” says DB managing director Matt Wilson.
“Each deserving recipient has shown what it takes to lead and grow in a challenging and constantly evolving environment. We applaud their efforts and congratulate both the winners and finalists on their contributions to the sector.”
The People’s Awards for Excellence are part of the 2025 Lion Hospitality New Zealand Awards for Excellence, and aligned with HNZ25, Hospitality New Zealand’s annual conference, running June 10-11.
