Hospitality New Zealand is acknowledging the contribution of outgoing president, Nick Keene, and welcoming new president, Kristy Phillips, a change of leadership confirmed at the recent Annual General Meeting.
“I want to thank Nick for his eight years on the Board and four years as president of the association,” says Hospitality New Zealand chief executive Steve Armitage.
“Nick has presided over one of the most turbulent periods our sector has had to endure, and has done this with a clear and calm demeanour which has earned him great respect.
“He has also been a staunch advocate for the change we have undertaken in recent times, giving great confidence to me and the team to embrace new ways of doing things. We wish him well for the future.
“We also welcome Kristy Phillips as she takes the presidential chains. Kristy has been a strong voice around our board table for the last seven years, most recently serving as vice president, and we look forward to her continued contributions to the organisation as president.”
“It’s been an honour to serve the association as president, and I leave with confidence and pride in the platform we’ve built for future growth and resilience in Hospitality NZ,” says Nick.
“I want to express my sincere gratitude to the board for their guidance, to our membership for their trust, and especially to Steve and his team for their dedication and hard work in implementing Hospitality NZ’s vision.
“It has been both challenging and rewarding to serve this resilient industry, and I remain committed to supporting the association through its next chapter, albeit in a different capacity.”
“It’s an immense privilege to be taking on the role of Hospitality New Zealand’s president,” says Kristy.
“I’ve loved my career in hospitality from working in venues to owning my own businesses, and I’m excited to step into leading an organisation and industry I’m so passionate about.
“I am optimistic for the future growth and development of our industry, and I look forward to serving and representing our members over the coming term.”
Hospitality New Zealand also welcomes new board members Alexander Siebentritt (Nelson) and Garth Solly (Northland), and acknowledges outgoing board member Simon White (Wellington). Alexander was also the recipient of the Lynn Braddock Award, presented at the AGM for dedication and service at a Hospitality NZ Branch level.
