Tūroa Ski Area is thrilled to announce its official winter opening, with, hospitality and snow play kicking off in Alpine Meadow from Saturday, May 31, and the ski and snowboard season set to launch on Saturday, June 28, perfectly timed for the start of the school holidays.
Starting tomorrow, May 1, Tūroa will launch multi-day anytime passes and introduce two-, five-, and seven-day consecutive passes, offering great value for those seeking flexibility without committing to a full season pass.
Tūroa Ski Area marketing manager Joanna Campbell says the team is ready to welcome visitors back for another unforgettable winter season on Mt Ruapehu.
“We’re gearing up for another an epic winter of snow sports and good times at Tūroa. In exciting news for the 2025 season, we’ve partnered with Air Chathams to make it even easier for Northerners to get here. Travellers can fly direct from Auckland to Whanganui, hire a vehicle locally, and be on the slopes or enjoying their accommodation and a drink at the Powderhorn Chateau within two hours of landing.
“It’s been a challenging time for the Central Plateau region, and we want to reassure everyone that Tūroa and Ohakune are very much open for winter. Come out and support the amazing tourism and hospitality businesses, and communities who deserve a great season,” says Joanna.
Offering New Zealand’s longest winter ski season, Tūroa delivers the best value for money with its early bird season pass giving snow goers more time on the slopes. The ski area is expected to remain open for sightseeing and snow play until October 5, with upper mountain skiing and boarding continuing through the October long weekend, weather and snow conditions permitting.
