Big news for LyLo, who has just scored three new Qualmark sustainable tourism accolades.
LyLo Auckland, Christchurch, and Queenstown have all nailed a 5-star Backpacker accommodation grading, plus a Silver Sustainable Tourism Business Award – proof the three New Zealand properties are focused on protecting what makes New Zealand epic while keeping travel fun, affordable, and future-friendly.
LyLo managing director Tim Alpe says Qualmark recognition is a big deal.
“It helps keep New Zealand’s clean, green reputation intact.
“It backs the Tourism 2025 and Beyond vision, making sure we’re not just talking about sustainable tourism but actually leading the charge. At LyLo we want to be good for the planet, good for guests, and good for business.”
Today’s travellers are more eco-conscious than ever, and LyLo takes a holistic approach to social, community, and sustainability with a broader ESG-led purpose for the brand.
“Sustainability isn’t a trend, it’s the expected standard,” says Tim. “Our team works hard to meet that, and I couldn’t be prouder, but there’s always more to do.”
LyLo Auckland, Queenstown, and Christchurch are proudly displaying their Qualmark certifications, recognising their commitment to sustainability, strong community connections, and a safe, high-quality experience for all.
The properties scored highly across key areas, including health and safety leadership, risk management, worker wellbeing, and environmental sustainability.
