As of December 9, 2024, you can now purchase a seat in advance to be among the first in the globe to experience the new Electric Hydrofoil Ferry, ‘Kermadec’.
The ferry is a fully electric, emissions-free, hydrofoiling ferry, which is set to deliver sustainable, premium travel on Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf for up to eight guests at a time.
First launched in early 2024 by New Zealand designers and builders Vessev, the release of publicly available tickets comes after the electric hydrofoil received official maritime certification in November, making it the first tourism experience of its kind to be commercialised in the world.
“The launch of our new Electric Hydrofoil Experiencehas been highly anticipated by both Kiwis and visitors to New Zealand, so we are thrilled to be able to now offer this unique experience to the public,” says Fullers360 chief executive Mike Horne.
By visiting Fullers360’s website, guests can purchase an exciting Electric Hydrofoil Experience or enquire about a private charter. The Electric Hydrofoil Experience offers an unforgettable 40-minute journey starting at Auckland’s Viaduct. Glide above the water while enjoying panoramic views of Auckland’s iconic skyline, the Harbour Bridge, and the stunning waters of the Waitematā Harbour.
Onboard, guests will enjoy a beverage and premium snack while learning about the world-leading Kiwi foiling technology. The intimate setting also allows for informative commentary about Auckland and its surrounding islands.
“This is a significant milestone in Fullers360’s decarbonisation journey and marks a new era in high-end tourism and on water experiences. It’s a great step for green technology and our local tourism industry; one I believe really puts New Zealand on the map and further cements us as leading innovators,” says Mike.
Vessev CEO Eric Laakmann is working alongside Fullers360 to help ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for customers.
“This is a proud moment for us and a major milestone for marine sustainability. Fullers360 is the first major ferry operator in the world to incorporate a certified electric hydrofoiling tourism vessel into its fleet.
“That is an incredible achievement for the team at Vessev, Fullers360, and for New Zealand innovation as a whole. We’re so excited for the new year when passengers will be able to share in this world first experience.”
Fullers360’s Electric Hydrofoil Experience runs from January through March, with timetabled services available Wednesday to Sunday, and charter options offered throughout summer.
Advance bookings are now available for January 9, 2025m onward for a limited time. Anyone wanting to secure a place on the Electric Hydrofoil Experience are encouraged to book their tickets now to avoid missing out.
