EVT’s innovative budget accommodation brand LyLo was acknowledged as the ‘Best Hostel’ at the famed Global Youth Travel Awards for the Lylo Auckland experience. This is the inaugural time that an Australasian brand has won this category.
LyLo is a new way to stay – a game-changing social travel experience focused on helping savvy, cost-conscious travellers experience the joy of travel in affordable style, offering multi-purpose spaces to play, eat, work and sleep, all attributes recognised as part of the judging process.
Held annually by WYSE Travel Confederation, the global awards formally recognise outstanding performers across several fields of international youth travel and reward stakeholders in the youth, student and educational travel industry that make a noteworthy contribution to the industry.
This year’s winners were announced at a gala dinner on the final evening of the World Youth and Student Travel Conference in Lisbon on September 27, 2024.
Reflecting on the recognition, EVT’s managing director of LyLo, Tim Alpe says: “We are thrilled to be recognised by the WYSE Travel Confederation amongst a peer group of the best global brands. We believe in delivering social, style-led travel experiences that engage our customers with local communities and embrace travellers from across the world.
“The Global Youth Travel Awards are fundamental in highlighting industry leaders delivering positive change, we are honoured to be recognised and are incredibly proud to be showcasing the best of EVT’s budget accommodation on the world stage.”
LyLo Auckland opened November 2022 and has a 97.7 positive rating on major booking sites. LyLo has two other properties in New Zealand, Christchurch and Queenstown, and a newly opened property in, Brisbane, Australia. EVT has more locations planned for LyLo in Australia, and will explore options to expand the brand offshore in the future.
