Tourism Industry Aotearoa (TIA) announced September 17 the launch of the second round of courses for Akiaki — Advancing Tourism, a program designed to elevate skills and sustainability across New Zealand’s tourism sector.
The new programme include courses on Visitor Engagement, Resilience, and Storytelling, each crafted to enhance visitor experiences and fortify the industry’s sustainability efforts.
These bite-sized modules are accessible to staff at all levels within the tourism sector, providing valuable insights that have already been met with positive feedback. Previous courses on carbon measurement, waste management, and protecting nature have been praised for their user-friendly and engaging format.
Ewan Mackie, Treble Cone Ski Area manager and RealNZ Sustainability Lead, described Akiaki as a “superb resource for sharing knowledge and increasing capability.”
Akiaki courses are free for TIA members and their staff, making it an accessible way for businesses to upskill their teams. TIA encourages members to register and take advantage of these resources to strengthen their business capabilities and contribute to a more resilient tourism industry.
