Australian-owned adventure travel company Aurora Expeditions has revealed its anticipated Antarctica 2025-26 season, giving travellers the chance to explore even more regions that also include two new departure ports, in Hobart, Australia and Dunedin, New Zealand.
In a recent media release, April 23, Haley Peacock-Gower, chief managing officer of Aurora Expeditions says “We’re particularly thrilled to be offering passengers the chance to travel to Antarctica from Australia and New Zealand for the first time in 13 years, reconnecting our company to its founding inspiration as well as opening up another lesser-explored part of Antarctica to both local and international travellers.”
The season will see 32 voyages across three purpose-built small ships—the Greg Mortimer, Sylvia Earle, and the brand-new Douglas Mawson. Alongside Aurora’s best-selling Antarctic Explorer and Spirit of Antarctica voyages, the season will also introduce eight new itineraries.
Hayley says “Not only will we be introducing our third purpose-built vessel, the Douglas Mawson, but we will explore more of Antarctica’s regions than we have before in a single season, visiting the Antarctic Peninsula, the Weddell Sea, East Antarctica, the Ross Sea, Antarctic Circle, South Georgia, the Falklands, and the New Zealand Subantarctic Islands.”
Aurora Expeditions also confirmed Auckland and Campbell Islands will be on the itineraries, chosen specifically for its beauty and abundance of unique wildlife.
Justin Ewin, Aurora Expeditions’ global head of product, emphasised the diverse range of adventures available throughout the season, from express itineraries to epic explorations. “There is something for first-time Antarctic visitors to seasoned explorers alike across this season, while adventure and exploration remain the core theme,” he says.
For a limited time, Aurora Expeditions is offering up to 25% off for early bird bookings on select voyages on the new Antarctica 2025-26 season here
