Jetstar asked 500 Kiwis what makes them swipe right when looking at a dating profile and the results show singles are interested in those who have travelled to broaden their horizons.
According to the results, having a profile that conveys a passion for travel will make one in two participants swipe right. As for the perfect dating profile picture, food reigns supreme.
A snap enjoying local cuisine has 63 per cent swiping right, as well as relaxing beachside (58 per cent) and sipping coffee at a cafe (50 per cent).
The airlines’ nationwide survey also revealed that more than 80 per cent of New Zealand’s singles feel there’s a lack of choice within the local dating scene, leaving many looking to travel for love.
53 per cent of singles told Jetstar they’d be willing to get out of their city and travel to find ‘the one’, with more than half of those people (29 per cent) willing to hunt down love internationally.
Contrary to popular belief, expensive holidays and private jets aren’t the way to the hearts of single Kiwis. Only five per cent showed interest in dating someone who flaunts a ‘flashy, no expense spared’ travel style, whereas 25 per cent are drawn to adventurous travellers, and 21 per cent to sightseers.

Being rude to waiters, staff or crew was voted the biggest travel ‘ick’ at 72 per cent, followed by spending the entire trip on social media (56 per cent), taking shoes off on the plane (45 per cent) and refusing to try the local cuisine (38 per cent).
