A first for Aotearoa New Zealand, RotoruaNZ is proud to launch the Destination Management Dashboard on its website, inviting the public to monitor its journey toward achieving its mandated key performance indicators (KPIs).
These KPIs, outlined in the Rotorua Destination Management Plan (DMP), serve as a strategic roadmap for well-governed, sustainable tourism development. This approach ensures Rotorua’s transformation into a thriving, world-class visitor destination while concurrently benefiting the local community. Destination management represents an ongoing, multifaceted process that calls for proactive planning, addressing social, economic, cultural, and environmental risks and opportunities.
Melissa Craig, destination manager says “The Destination Management Dashboard is designed to embody transparency and openness. It allows our community and stakeholders to witness the tangible strides we’re making toward positively influencing our community, local businesses, and the experiences of our cherished manuhiri.”
In the last 20 months, Melissa has taken the helm in driving pivotal initiatives aimed at facilitating the DMP’s realisation. Notable milestones include the inception of the RotoruaNZ Talent Incubator, the widely acclaimed “Best Summer Job Ever” campaign, and the innovative Tiaki Taiao sustainability mentoring program.
She has also played a pivotal role in arranging quarterly forums, serving as invaluable platforms for the tourism and hospitality sector. These forums enable industry professionals to stay informed, engaged, and updated on the progress, and offer opportunities to provide feedback, seek answers, and foster networking among peers.
RotoruaNZ remains steadfast in its commitment to foster and showcase Rotorua as a destination of choice for working, studying, visiting, investing, and residing. Their dedicated efforts directly contribute to the growth of the Rotorua economy, unlocking avenues for commercial investment and generating employment, wealth, and well-being for the entire community.
