Lake Wānaka Tourism has taken out not one, but two highly commended accolades at the Mumbrella Travel Marketing Awards.
Australia’s only dedicated travel marketing awards attracts 100’s of entries from the very top agencies across PR, media, and marketing worldwide, with the top performers making it to a shortlist before judging by a panel of industry experts.
In the hotly contended ‘Award for Bravery and Innovation’ LWT narrowly missed out on the win for their work on Way South. Showcasing the unrivalled beauty of Wānaka while embracing diversity and challenging the status quo, Way South is a short film directed by New Zealand creative Benn Jae for LWT, that edges a little bit closer towards a future that is truly inclusive.
LWT also received highly commended in the ‘Best Brand Partnership’ category for their work with Monster Children Group on the highly successful Short Film Awards. A partnership that supports Australasian creativity, encouraging work that is about connection through the power of storytelling.
LWT marketing and communications manager Gizelle Regan says this recognition in two categories is testament to the exceptional calibre and the importance of the work delivered over the past 12 months.
“With a cast all representative of the LGBTQI+ community and the wonderful tapestry that is Aotearoa, Way South it is a small but important step towards making the minority a majority way of thinking for the travel industry.
“While our work with Monster Children gives aspiring filmmakers the opportunity to tell stories of substance. This year the theme is Regeneration; supporting all the work we are undertaking in this space to bring awareness to, and the immediate need for climate, and cultural conservation”.
