Tourism New Zealand’s latest campaign is inviting Australians to seek ‘a little Ahhhh and Ahh!’, via new activity to encourage winter visitation.
“The activity highlights New Zealand’s famed ski slopes but a lso a diversity of winter experiences including Canterbury Hot Tubs, Ruapehu Waterfalls, Queenstown Hikes, 4WD and stargazing.” says Tourism New Zealand chief executive René de Monchy.
The activity will remain live until end of June, with the intent of driving visitation for the full New Zealand winter season. It complements Tourism New Zealand’s global IF YOU SEEK campaign, designed to drive bookings and referrals to industry via: www.newzealand.com.
The global IF YOU SEEK campaign is driving some of our highest ever Brand Preferences scores to-date, with 44.6 per cen t of those actively considering visiting stating New Zealand is their preferred destination over others.
“Tourism will be an important contributor to New Zealand’s recovery, we are working hard to position New Zealand as an attractive destination to high-quality visitors,” says René.
Prior to COVID-19, Australia was New Zealand’s largest international visitor market, accounting for more than 40 per cent of all international visitor arrivals.
In 2019 1.5 million Australian visitors arrived and spent $2.7 billion. Australian holiday arrivals have made an 80 per cent recovery compared to pre-COVID numbers.
Between July and September 2022 New Zealand welcomed over 125,000 Australians with 35 per cent of those stating they skied/snowboarded or participated in some other snow sport while here.
