Marlborough Chocolate Icons set to launch, capturing the region’s rich heritage and unique flavours

A sweet symphony of flavours and history is about to be unveiled, with the launch of Marlborough Chocolate Icons on Sunday.

Following the success of his West Coast Chocolate Icons, Patrick Volk, is launching a new line of chocolates shaped into iconic symbols from the Marlborough region, featuring locally crafted ingredients.

The Marlborough Chocolate Icons collection embraces local suppliers and the region’s rich resources, showcasing New Zealand’s largest wine-growing region through a collaboration of locally crafted ingredients.

Patrick, who has a 35-year history in hospitality, including working in some of the world’s best five-star hotels, says: “I wanted to create something that promotes the Marlborough region and showcases its unique flavours and stories”.

“By partnering with local suppliers, we’ve crafted a product that is proudly Marlborough and truly one-of-a-kind.”

The Marlborough Chocolate Icons collection includes:

  •   •  Picton Harbour Anchor with Skiddaw Farm Honey, celebrating the maritime history of Picton and honey from the native flora surrounding Skiddaw Farm.
  •   •  Havelock Mussel Basket with Lemon and Roots Marlborough Dry Gin, paying homage to Havelock’s seafood industry and the boutique distillery, Elemental Distillers.
  •   •  Blenheim Cherry Dome with Prenzel Dark Cherry Liqueur, capturing the essence of Blenheim’s fruit-growing heritage.
  •   •  Wairau Valley Grape with Giesen Sauvignon Blanc, representing the region’s famous cool-climate wines.
  •   •  Seddon Salt Peak with caramel and salt from Dominion Salt Ltd, showcasing the saltworks that have been operating at Lake Grassmere since 1949.
  •   •  Renwick Pinot Noir Wine Barrel with FROMM Wine, celebrating Renwick’s role as a hub for the wine industry and FROMM Winery’s commitment to sustainability and taste.

The Marlborough Chocolate Icons will be officially launched at the event in Picton on Sunday, March 26.

As the chocolates gain popularity, Patrick envisions a bright future and looks forward to continuing to celebrate the diverse flavours and stories of New Zealand through his delightful chocolate creations.
