Go with Tourism launch resource packs for employers and educators

Go with Tourism has today released resource packs for tourism and hospitality employers, as well as secondary school tourism teachers.

The Tourism Industry Resource Kete will aid employers in efforts to raise industry standards and build the workforce; and the Tourism Teachers’ Resource Pack will assist educators to connect with industry and deliver the new NCEA Level 2 tourism curriculum.

Go with Tourism programme director Heidi Gillingham says that information sharing is an important step towards building the tourism and hospitality workforce and industry reputation.

“By helping one another and sharing best practise, we’re increasing knowledge and ultimately working towards better outcomes that will improve our workforce.” she says

The packs are the latest addition to the revamped Go with Tourism website, offering a wide range of information for businesses, teachers, students and job seekers.

Heidi says they that the Go with Tourism website can become a one-stop-shop of resources and information for those involved with the industry.

The Tourism Industry Resource Kete has been designed to align with the six pou and 14 key initiatives from the Better Work Action Plan, recently launched by the Tourism Industry Transformation Plan group and Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.

The Kete provides a list of resources, contacts and useful information intended to:

Assist the tourism workforce to better navigate issues including pay and work conditions, demand fluctuations, business maturity and scalability, and current and future skills gaps.

Ensure 360-degree business health, vital for successful and sustainable business.

Encourage professional development and improvement, across the board for businesses, teams and individuals.

Advocate for best practice.

Encourage industry and other sector connections, networking and sharing of knowledge.
