Bilingual and sustainable: new toiletries at Edgewater Lake Wānaka

For the first time ever, Edgewater Lake WƒÅnaka’s new guest bathroom amenities now incorporate bilingual descriptions, in Te Reo MƒÅori and English.

The products have been developed and produced entirely in Aotearoa New Zealand with an emphasis on sustainability and protecting the environment.

“We are grateful for the support and advice from Komene from Tƒìnei Te Ruru and Paulette from Kotahi Mano KƒÅika as we developed these amenities,” says general manager Catherine Bone.

Hair care products are made from a 100 per cent vegetable base and are Paraben free. Even the packaging is 100 per cent recycled featuring oxygen bleached carton board.

The range features Hopi Rika (hand wash), Hopi Tinana (body wash), Hopi Makawe (shampoo), Hopi Whakamania(conditioner) and Pani Tinana (body lotion).

The journey towards development of these new amenities started in 2021 and involved extensive discussions with the manufacturer, Health-Pak, and consultation with tangata whenua.

Edgewater’s goal was to incorporate Aotearoa New Zealand’s unique heritage and culture into their guest experience.

“As we welcome overseas visitors again, it was the perfect time to introduce these new amenities and bilingual labelling.”
