Work is underway to build a new dedicated rental car kiosk building, further improving facilities at Nelson Airport.
“The new kiosk building will accommodate all the front-of-house functions for our highly-valued rental car tenants; Avis, Budget, Hertz/Thrifty, Go Rental, Europcar, Ezi Car Rental and NZ Rent A Car, as well as providing a modern customer experience,” says Nelson Airport chief executive Mark Thompson.
“Designed to complement the new terminal building; the kiosk building will fit in well with the modern aesthetic of the airport and be far more functional than the collection of portacoms that currently house the six rental car companies.”
The new kiosk building will be situated where the premium carpark is currently located and, along with the associated rental carparking, will utilise approximately two-thirds of the existing premium carpark.
The number of premium carparks, which have long been under-utilised, will be permanently reduced, while capacity for public carparking remains the same.
The construction period will not significantly impact public accessibility and carparking at the airport.
“Nelson Airport is a key gateway to our region and with travel expected to take off again over the next few months, we are continuing to invest in modern facilities that will provide both visitors and Nelsonians with the best possible airport experience,” says Mark.
Work is expected to start on the new kiosk in May with completion expected by October.
