Innovation powerhouse set to lead new experience start- up

New Auckland-based start-up ‘oodlz’ has appointed Matt Stenton, outgoing programme director for Go with Tourism, as its general manager.

From January 17, Matt will apply his highly-respected innovation and leadership skills to developing and growing the new experience app — described as a revolutionary platform that blurs the lines between gamification, social media and lifestyle guide.

Matt is well regarded within business and travel circles as being responsible for the exponential growth and success of Go with Tourism. This government-funded initiative became a nationally-adopted, multi-million dollar platform under his leadership.

oodlz director Gina Paladini says that the team are thrilled to have Matt on board. oodlz is a totally novel innovation that’s core purpose is providing value to everyone, from its users (oodlerz), to participating businesses, industry, charities and community throughout Aotearoa. Such an aspirational business needs a visionary leader with drive, multi-industry experience and a proven track record and Matt is that unicorn we were seeking.

Matt says it is a privilege to join such a visionary project. “oodlz is changing the way our visitor economy engages with New Zealand. I look forward to bringing this game-changing app to market and providing a new interactive tool for people who, I’m certain, will enjoy our gamified approach to exploring Aotearoa.

“I believe we will play a huge role in rebuilding our industry with this app.”

The oodlz app encourages and rewards people for discovering more about their own region, find new experiences and engage with destinations and communities around New Zealand. Users – or “oodlerz” – gain points for completing an activity. When three or more activities are completed adding up to 100 points, an Experience Card is completed and oodlrz pocket an instant reward.

oodlz supports local businesses and communities by providing real-time data to stakeholders and operators; additionally it will carbon offset all travel and engagement and assist in giving back to local communities.

oodlz will launch in December 2021.
