Cultural tourism launching this weekend in the BOP

Te Whanau Tāpoi Māori O Tauranga Moana (Tauranga Moana Māori Tourism Collective) is launching in the Bay of Plenty this weekend.

Te Whanau Tāpoi Māori O Tauranga Moana is an incorporated society of local Māori tourism operators and Māori service providers from Tauranga Moana Рthe majority of whom whakapapa (ancestral ties) to three iwi, or who live, work and breathe amongst Te Moana Nui a Toi (Coastal BOP).

They are the first collective of their kind in New Zealand and are inviting the public to attend the official launch held this Saturday, April 24.

The launch will be open to the public after 1.30pm, and people are encouraged to gather at the base of Mauao on the Waikorire (Pilot Bay) side, at the Mount Camping Grounds in Mount Maunganui.

In the afternoon, invited TECNZ ITO Members and the general public will have chance to meet Te Whanau Tāpoi Māori O Tauranga Moana's established and newly formed local Māori tourism operators during a social meet and greet session Рto learn about their product and service offerings.
