Scenic Hotel Group launches The Legacy Collection

Leaving a positive mark on people and place is at the heart of Scenic Hotel Group’s new Legacy Collection; a collection of unique, premium properties, each with their own story to share and own legacy to leave on the people and places they touch.

The first property to join the Legacy Collection is the award-winning, eco-luxe Te Waonui Forest Retreat at Franz Josef Glacier on the South Island’s West Coast.

“Te Waonui Forest Retreat exemplifies the values and virtues of the Legacy Collection in terms of its honesty and delivering an authentic experience," says Scenic Hotel Group managing director, Brendan Taylor.

Brendan says these attributes are hallmarks of the Legacy Collection and are inspired by the our surroundings, history, design and uniquely New Zealand features.

Te Waonui also shares its pristine, natural setting through exclusive guest experiences that include intimate forest dining experiences, guided flora and fauna walks and a strong cultural offering as well as a daily degustation menu that is a showcase of New Zealand cuisine.

A strong commitment and contribution to its local environs is demonstrated through Te Waonui’s participation in the local Department of Conservation programme to save New Zealand’s most endangered kiwi species, the little brown, or Rowi kiwi.

The second property to follow in the collection will be an exciting new incarnation at the landmark, Scenic Hotel Auckland in what will mark the newest and most innovative development by the Group to date.

“The relaunch early next year of the Scenic Hotel Auckland will reveal a fresh new look and brand identity signalling its own, special contribution to the Legacy Collection," says Brendan.

This Auckland landmark is located in the heart of Auckland’s thriving arts and entertainment area. Its new look represents a contemporary twist on Auckland’s glory age that was marked by art deco architecture, extravagant theatres, ornate arcades, and of course, the MLC Building that retains its prominent position on the corner of Queen and Airedale Streets in the city centre.

Brendan says that while all properties in the Scenic Hotel Group strive to deliver a uniquely New Zealand experience and are committed to an enterprise that fosters sustainability in the environment and contributes in meaningful ways to communities, there was a space to amplify this with the group’s premium brands.

The Legacy Collection will continue to evolve with the group's portfolio and plans around the enhancement of the guest experience across properties and locations throughout New Zealand.
